Burger King Scholarship Programme Awards

PEP Awards Criteria

  • Applicants’ PEP results will be ranked by the Ministry of Education.
  • Provide certified copies of two (2) term reports from the Grade 6 academic year.
  • Must have at least an 85 % or B+ average, or a 3.0 GPA.
  • Must be involved in at least two (2) extracurricular or community activities.
  • Staff PEP Awards require the parent to be employed with Burger King for at least one (1) year.
  • Open PEP Scholarships and Open PEP Book Grants are open to any PEP students who are completing Grade 6 for academic year 2024/2025 island wide.

Open PEP Scholarships

Eight (8) Open PEP awards valued at $300,000 payable over 5 years of high school in annual $60,000 installments.

Valda Ormsby Scholarships

  • One (1) award open only to Kellits Primary School Grade 6 students valued at $300,000 payable over 5 years of high school in annual $60,000 installments.
  • One (1) award open only to a Grade 6 PEP student from Clarendon, valued at $300,000 payable over 5 years of high school in annual $60,000 installments.

PEP Book Grants

Ten (10) Book Grants valued at J$15,000 each, payable for one (1) year only per awardee.

*Open to any Grade 6 student island wide.

Staff PEP Awards

Two (2) BK Staff PEP Awards for children of BK employees valued at $300,000 payable over 5 years of high school in annual $60,000 installments.

*Open to any PEP students who are children of Burger King employees in Grade 6 for academic year 2024/2025 island wide.

Secondary Awards Criteria

  • Must be accepted to commence CAPE or tertiary studies in September 2025 at a recognised high school/college in Jamaica.
  • Must have at least a 75 % or B+ average.
  • Provide copies of CSEC results and certified copies of two (2) term reports from 5th form.
  • Submit a video (max 3 minutes) explaining why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship, including accomplishments, aspirations, and involvement in school and/or community activities.
  • Must be involved in at least one (1) sport and one (1) extracurricular or community activity.

Two (2) Secondary Athletic Provisional Scholarships (Male and Female) each valued at $60,000.

Awarded to two exceptional students in 5th – 6th form who excel in any sporting discipline and demonstrate positive school spirit. Payable for one year only per awardee.

Tertiary Awards Criteria

  • Must be accepted to commence tertiary studies in September 2025 at a recognised university/college in Jamaica with at least an 85 % or B+ average, or a 3.0 GPA.
  • Provide copies of CAPE and/or CSEC results.
  • Submit an essay (max 500 words) outlining why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship.
  • Must be involved in at least two (2) extracurricular or community activities.

Lois Sherwood Scholarships

  • Lois Sherwood Scholarship valued at $1,500,000 payable over 3 years of tertiary studies.
    Awarded to an exceptional 6th form student in need from St. Andrew High School for Girls.
  • Lois Sherwood Provisional Scholarship valued at $400,000 payable over 1 year of tertiary studies.
    Awarded to an exceptional 6th form student in need from St. Andrew High School for Girls.

Lois Sherwood Arts Scholarship

One (1) scholarship valued at $400,000 open to any exceptional student in need of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, starting their final year of studies (any faculty).

Rodwell Lake Scholarships

  • Rodwell Lake Scholarship valued at $1,500,000 payable over 3 years of tertiary studies.
    Awarded to an exceptional 6th form student in need from St. George’s College.
  • Rodwell Lake Provisional Scholarship valued at $400,000 payable over 1 year of tertiary studies.
    Awarded to an exceptional 6th form student in need from St. George’s College.

Burger King Open Tertiary Scholarships

  • Two (2) Burger King Open Tertiary Scholarships (Male and Female) valued at $1,500,000 payable over 3 years of tertiary studies.
    Open to two exceptional students in need from any parish.
  • Two (2) Burger King Open Tertiary Provisional Scholarship (Male and Female) valued at $400,000 payable over 1 year of tertiary studies.
    Open to two exceptional students in need from any parish.
